Note: The property crimes included are: Malicious Damage to Property; Burglary at Residential Premises; Theft of Motor Vehicle or Motorcycle; and Theft out of or from Motor Vehicle.

Note: If crime figures for 2007/2008 are compared to those recorded during 2006/2007, the following facts transpire: The following property crimes have decreased:

  • Malicious Damage to Property - 4.4%
  • Burglary at Residential Premises - 4.7%
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle or Motorcycle -7.0%
  • Theft our of Motor Vehicle - 10.0%

The measures of violent crime come from three sources:

Figure 11: Malicious Damage to Property

Figure 11 indicates an overall decline in incidents of malicious damage to property between 2001/2002 and 2007/2008. Incidents of malicious damage to property reached a peak in the periods 2002/2003 and 2003/2004.

Figure 12: Burglary at Residential Premises

Figure 12 shows that burglaries at residential properties have declined overall between 2001/2002 and 2007/2008.

Figure 13: Theft of Motor vehicle or Motorcycle

Figure 13 indicates an overall decline in incidents of theft of motor vehicles or motorcycles between 2001/2002 and 2007/2008. A 0.4 per cent increase, however, has occurred in the last period between 2005/2006 and 2006/2007.

Figure 14: Theft out of or from Motor Vehicle

Figure 14 shows that incidents of theft out of or from motor vehicles have declined since 2001/2002.
