South Sudan
The CJCP has been contracted by Saferworld to undertake and manage the collection of data, and to develop a report to inform the development of a Community Policing Policy for the South Sudan Police Service (SSPS). The research process is also collecting baseline data for the Safety and Access to Justice Project (SAJP), a DFID-funded project working in partnership with the SSPS.

The study will collect data to inform the design of a community policing policy for the South Sudan Police Service. The research, including focus groups, in-depth interviews and exit polls at police stations, was completed in six of the eleven States, and at two sites - the capital town and one rural site - in each State.

The CJCP is also providing training to the newly-established Research and Planning Unit (RPU) of the SSPS. The RPU is a recently established unit, located within the SSPS headquarters, that is tasked with undertaking and coordinating all internal and external research, as well as leading policy formulation process.

The CJCP has been contracted, with support through DFID and its Safety and Access to Justice Project (SAJP), to develop training materials and provide facilitation in five discrete modules: research methodologies, report writing, project management, Human Rights and Gender and policing. Each module is designed to be delivered over a three to four day period, and combines both classroom hours and practical work.

The modules are followed by a moderated course assignment.
